Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD)
is a condition that affects the
macular in the retina. The macular is responsible for our central vision. Thus,
age-related macular degneration is one of the leading cause of central vision
loss. There are two forms :
1. "Dry" type of ARMD
2. "Wet" type of ARMD
Characterised by yellow deposits known as drusens which can result in distorted vision.
Characterised by abnormal growth of blood vessels in the retina which can leak and bleed, resulting in central vision loss.
