The retina is a transparent, thin layer of light sensitive cells that line the inside back wall of the eye. The retina is very important for good vision. 

Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD)  is a condition that affects the macular in the retina. The macular is responsible for our central vision. Thus, age-related macular degneration is one of the leading cause of central vision loss. There are two forms : 
1.  "Dry" type of ARMD   
2.  "Wet" type of ARMD

Dry ARMD
Characterised by yellow deposits known as drusens which can result in distorted vision.

Wet ARMD 
Characterised by abnormal growth of blood vessels in the retina which can leak and bleed, causing central vision loss.
